KAMPIMBI SAFE DRINKING WATER PROJECT
JUSTIFICATION
Water is one of the most powerful ways to improve health, hygiene, and well-being of any families need water to survive.Tanzania is among of the less developed countries which is facing with a lot of social and economic problem especially for water infrastructure in their villages. Ndungu is among of the village suffering from lack of enough safe domestic water for uses. Ndungu is located eastern part of Tanzania but its bordered with Mkomazi game reserve which is about 500 kms from Dar-es-salaam the capital and trading centre city of Tanzania. In historically the water infrastructure was constructed in the early of 1960 as an aids from our mother colony (British) and up to now there is no any further improvement of water systems while day to day settlements/families are expanded resulting to drinking water crisis among the different water users although there a plent of water from the Yongoma River. This project of 1960 was initiated to provide services to the people not more than 1000 but per now the settlement are more than 26000 people who depend from this small water reservior which is not enough, resulting to the people to use unsafe water. The Yongoma River(Ndurumo) is about 6km away from their village that is flowing abundantly all-year-round which can be simultaneously tapped to redirect its use to use for domestic uses, improve their economic and living condition.Hence eruption of diseases like dirrhoea, fever ,malaria etc which kills many people especially children and their mother because of lack of clean water to use. The socio-economic life of the people was originally agriculture and local pastoralism . The purpose of this proposal is to help the poor families to get safe drinking water through Construction of Water Pipe Line direct from Yongoma River and Reservoir. Not because there is no enough water from the river but because there is no any further plan to expand the project and its improvements which has touched our organization to help the communities around to reduced if not to finish the problem of drinking water .Financial Aids and human resources required to improve communities with the support they need to attain water at Ndungu village.
To ensuring that every one at Ndungu has clean water in drink would ranks as one of the great achievements of humankind. People are delivering upon this human right would also improve public and drive economic development .To make sure that women ,children and girls are engaged in economic issues than to spend a lot of time in seeking water. And to make that safe water decreases the diseases among the communities. To focusing attention on the importance of water and advocating sustainable management of fresh water resources.

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT PROPOSAL
Helping to enhance the environment and biodiversity to improve quality of life.
To enhancing and protecting the natural environment , reducing pollution and preventing habitat loss and degradation.

To encouraging businesses, people and communities to manage and use natural resources in a sustainable manner and to reduce waste.
To working to ensure that the Tanzania economy is resilient to climate change,To promote of integrated water resources management at different levels within the catchments areas along Yongoma River from Shengena forest reserve.
To work out together with the communities on how to better manage and use the water/training on water safety methods and water-sources maintenance.
To ensure that water management practices. It is by design when this Project is fully operational that it shall create a ripple effect of progress and development among them .
The Project will provide a solution to the Ndungu immemorial problem of having an abundant
potable supply of water in the midst of their community.
The Water Supply Reservoir is supplied with a non-stop flow of water from the “Shengena forest Spring” which now becomes the life line for Ndungu in the community.
This supply of water will guarantee the maintenance and improvement of their health, sanitation,
hygiene, socio-civic, economic and living condition.
The Ndungu especially the school children, will become more aware of their dignity as a people
and will take pride of what, as a community, can do and enhance their life and become productive
members of the society.
PROBLEM STATEMENT.
There is a general water problem in the area. When it rains, all the water in the village runs down
to the river. They drink this water, use it for washing,
cooking bathing, local drinks making like beers ,watering their animals and for irrigation activities. These water sources are therefore, shared by animals and human beings alike. They have a Reservoir tank constructed in the early of 1960 which is not fulfilling their requirement due to the fact that, need is beyond the existing Reservoir tank and the near by villages depend on this tank like Bagamoyo,Misufini,Dimbwi,Kwasoroha-Masai land and Makokane, but water supply for peripheral areas is only available for one or three day per week which affects their daily activities and their health. During the time where water are not found from the tape the always fetch water from the rivers the same applied to communities around the Centre facing a major problem of safe and clean water. Also, the wells are exposed, affording animals the opportunity to pollute the water. Women line up daily very early the morning to fetch water than to engaged in economic activities resulting to poverty among them and poor performance in academics issues for the Children who leave class to fetch water from river and it is always the children that carry the water. This would effectively reduce incidence of waterborne diseases and enable the people to have access to clean water leaving children to go to school and to develop as children.Primary schools, Secondary schools, Dispensaries, etc, which are not covered by other water supplies because of various reasons may suitably be supplied with water from our expecting project.
MAJOR ACTIVITIES OF THE PROJECT
i) Mobilizing the community to fully participate in project implementation .In mobilizing the community Mohispac Foundation will conduct meeting to the Center and people around the centre requested the support. During these meetings the community will get explanation on how the project will be conducted and other project conditions which include community contribution. The meetings will help to create awareness and readiness of participating in the project implementation.
ii) Formation of Water Maintenance Fund (WMF) which will be formed by the Community. The fund will be contributed by the communities aiming at supporting them to manage in maintaining and repair the pipes and reservoirs.
iii) Transportation of building material from Dar-es-salaam; this activity will be done soon after receiving fund.
iv) The work will be done by water technician/Engineers.
THE IMPACT OF HAVING SAFE DRINKING WATER IS TREMENDOUS

Orphans and Vulnerable Children Care [OVCC] updated its History page.
Orphans and Vulnerable Children Care (OVCC), is a non-for profit Organization which is legally registered by the Government of Tanzania since May, 2007.
The Organization works in Singida region in the a New innaugurated Disctrict called Ikungi, in the former it was in the Singida rural District and which included Ikungi District. The OVCC Headquarters are along the main road from Singida town to Dodoma about 20km sourth from Singida town at the small town called Puma.
The orphans and vulnerable children situation in Ikungi is that there are many orphans children almost in each village not less that 8 and 22 are vulnerable in each village. So according to the villages which are in Ikungi District, about 92 villages, you just imaging the population of vulnerable children we have in Ikungi District.
Orphans and Vulnereable Children Care (OVCC) commenced operations in Puma as a "one man show" in Feb, 2006 when its founder member, Mr. Bernard Sungi. became aware of a baby boy, Ibrahim Karani, who had been abandoned by his mentally unstable mother to live with his grand parents who, in turn, were too aged to care for him adequately in bringing up Ibrahim. Perhaps inevitably, as word spread of the kindness shown to Ibrahim by Mr. Sungi, more similar cases were brought to his attention for possible support. Equally through, as word of his activities spread throughout the community, other volunteers came forward to assist him. To the extent that by early 2007 the OVCC community group had eleven members as was ready to apply for registration as a civil society Organization. OVCC achieved that registration in May, 2007 with Registration Number:- SO: NO. 14788.
Since then and to date, OVCC has expanded its areas of operations to cover foourteen (14) villages and support more than 1,036 orphans and vulnerable children through its own effort (by members contributions). Up to know OVCC has seventeen members

GREEN TURTLES PROJECT
Matemwe Bungalows and a local villager, share a passion for protecting the sea
turtles and began working together. Green sea turtles live in tropical and subtropical
seas around the world, and can be found throughout the entire range of the Indian Ocean
including the waters around Zanzibar. They are green in color because of the fat underneath
their shell which turns green as a result of an algae based diet. Sea turtles migrate long
distances to return to their natal beach to lay their eggs. Their biggest threats are
commercial fishing and human harvesting of turtles and their eggs.
Since the inception of the Matemwe Sea Turtle Conservation Project, it is estimated that
40,000 turtle eggs have been protected and safely released into the sea upon hatching.
Instead of interfering with nests, or taking the eggs for human consumption (as was
common practice), villagers now contact Bakari immediately upon discovering a new nesting
place, where he will move the eggs to a safe nesting site. There is a nesting site on your right as you walk down to the beach from the Matemwe
To encourage this practice, villagers are rewarded with a Finder’s Fee for each nest they
report. This financial reward helps them pay for medicine, hospital, family matters, and
improve lifestyle.
How you can help: Donate a mosquito net to a village member. You can purchase a net at reception for $15 and deliver it yourself or
ask the lodge to deliver it on your behalf.
Participate: Visit the nesting area on Matemwe beach. Inquire at reception about
the current sea turtle activity. Sometimes it is possible to watch the baby turtles
hatch and head for the sea.
How you can help: Donate a ‘finders fee’ and help save a
nest of eggs. For ongoing research and records, we are looking for a
small digital camera for the project, if you have an extra camera or wish to buy one for the project
in Stone Town, they can be purchased for about $500. Key to the conservation of the Turtle is
awareness of the species plight amongst the Matemwe village youth, sponsor an educational presentation in the village
