Zanzibar social Servicies and Natural Environment Conservation Organization ( ZASNECO )Is small volunteer organization providing technical,education and hands on volunteer support to granss-roots community projects on the Zanzibar,Tanzania, Welcom all students from different universities and colleges of the world who has interest to working with us and has experience of our programmes bellow.

It was conducting different volunteering programmes so as to bring about the social changes and development for the people of Zanzibar,ZASNECO programmes includes:-

• TEACHING COMPUTER SKILLS.

A few people have opportunity to lear on how to use computer,this is becouse oftheir low levol of income that could not be able to sustain for their whole life. ZASNECO established this programme in order to help people in attaining self employment.This skills includes how to operate a computer,word processing and spreadsheets, use email,internet seaches and other related computer skills, ( two weeks to twelve months, depended your programmes )

• TEACHING SCIENCE SUJECTS:  Zanzibar is the one among third word country which have less scientific and technological advancement. Through this problem ZASNECO through special opplication has connection with the ministry of Education and Vocational Training on encourange their students on science subjects.The volunteers in this field will be connected to governmental schools for teaching science subjects such as mathematics,biology,physics,geography and chemistry ( one month to twelve months and depended your programmes )

• TEACHING DIFFERENT LANGUAGES:  Volunteers are constantly needed to help with the free teaching languages classes for community development. This will help many people to get employment in tourist hotels and reduce provert for many Zanzibaris.Many students are failed becouse of lack of enough skill of using foreign languages. ZASNECO require teachers in different language such as English,Italian,French,German,Dutch,Spain and Arabic and other related foreign languages in order to fulfill its objects. ( three month and depended your programmes )

• SWHILI PROGRAMME:  'ZASNECO establishing special programme for foreign volunteers to learn and interested volunteer to learn Swahili language. This programme will operate his compentent supervisor once in every day excluding weekend.

DURATION AND TIMING OF PROJECT:

Most volunteer will be housed at ZASNECO house,your stay will typicall include daily breakfast, lunches and dinner through self catering may be arranged in some instances.

You will eat traditional swahili cuisine-simple ,but healthful foods such as fresh fish and chicken,rice-based dishes, bread and chapatis fresh vegetables and fruits and juices. We can accommodate vegetarians if you let us know in advance.

The dialogue was hot at Kiteto district(Manyara region) premises on the implementation of Public private partnership policy.;

1. The Youth Empowerment and MVC Support Program:

This is Kividea's major program. In 2013, this project was in its second phase.

The first was a pilot phase of 12 months during which the project assisted vulnerable youth who were faced with critical behavioral and social problems and helped them gain back the skills for social participation. Through the project we trained peer educators who worked with the beneficiaries to sensitize and accompany them. Eighty (80) beneficiary youth received individual and group counseling, and then received a number of trainings including life skills training, HIV/AIDS training, reproductive health and entrepreneurship skills trainings.  After the training on entrepreneurship, the benficiaries formed 16 groups of 5 persons each  and initiate group projects that we supported with start up funds.  

The results of the pilot phase informed the development of an 18 months program (July 2012 - December 2013) that focused on empowerment of adolescents and youth with various vulnerabilities and most vulnerable children (MVCs). A new team of 15 peer educators was formed in 3 rural wards, 12 volunteers of village/ward MVC committees were trained, 60 MVCs have received support including scholastic costs, health insurance, and psychosocial help. The 15 peer educators in rural wards and 5 peer educators in Kigoma-Ujiji municipality have conducted public campaigns in 11 schools and 7 wards, and facilitated sensitation, information and learning sessions with groups of peers in their wards reaching to  1,655 youth (of these 728 female or 44%), and indirectly reached about 1,250 community members. The campaigns are helping young people gain more control over their lives as they make informed choices and decision regarding sexuality and reproduction, and especially managing their risky behaviour of drug abuse, alcoholism and unsafe sex. . The broader impact of these campaigns has also been the awakening of young people’s consciousness. 

In 2014, we are starting a 3-year program, which is an extension of the second phase project. It is  aimed at increasing resilience and psychosocial functioning of MVCs and youth in 8 target wards in Uvinza district and Kigoma municipal. It will benefit directly to 80 MVCs ( (10 MVCs per ward: 40 Female, 40 Male; in 4 wards in Uvinza district and 4 wards in Kigoma municipality), 30 vulnerable youth, 30 peer educators, 16 MVC Committee volunteers; and indirectly to 350 guardians and relatives of MVCs, ans 1,200 youth in schools and out of schools.

Overall Goal (Impact)

To contribute to improving the psychosocial functioning and wellbeing of most vulnerable children, adolescents and youth in Kigoma region by 2014.

Project Objective (Outcome of the project)

To increase resilience, protection and psychosocial functioning of most vulnerable children, adolescents and youth in Uvinza district and Kigoma municipal.

Specific Objectives (Outcomes)

- To enhance community-based support for 80 most vulnerable children in 4 wards in Uvinza district and 4 wards in Kigoma municipal;

- To empower 30 most vulnerable youth in Kigoma municipal and other 1,200 in and out of school young people to make meaningful life choices and participate effectively to personal and social development in 3 wards in Uvinza district and 3 wards in Kigoma municipal;

- To strengthen the capacity of 18 MVCCs, 30 Peer Educators and 8 Ward leaders to provide effective care, guidance and protection for MVCs and vulnerable youth 4 wards in Uvinza district and 4 wards in Kigoma municipal.

Total budget for 3 years: 175,000$ from Terre des Hommes Schweiz.

2. Life Skills Education and Monitoring for Roots & Shoots School Clubs:

Since July 2013, Kividea conducts training of life skills and monitoring of peer-based education to Roots & Shoots clubs in 30 schools in Uvinza, Kigoma and Mpanda districts. This project has been rotated in a total of 75 schools over the past two years, with support from the Jane Goodall Institute (JGI-Kigoma).

3. Community Mobilization and Advocacy on VAW & SRHR:

Since 2009, Kividea joined the Women's Global Network for Reproductive Rights (WGNRR), and in 2011 we were part of an advocacy project to review and analyze the national policies on reproductive health, steered by the Women's Promotion Centre (WPC) in Kigoma. We now undertake training of peer community facilitators on sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR), and violence against women (VAW) using the SASA Approach. We currently have 12 competent community youth facilitators operating in Kigoma municipality.
