Major Alliance Education Centre, in short known as MAEC , is a region non-profit making, non-denominational, non-political and non- governmental organization whose headquarters are in Bukoba Municipal Council, Kagera region, Tanzania, East Africa. Its operational area is Kagera Region. It is currently operating in Bukoba Urban, with provision to expand in future. It was registered by the government of United Republic of Tanzania under the Tanzania NGO’s Act of 2002, bearing registration number 05NGO/1895 of 22/01/2007.

Major Alliance Education Centre hereinafter referred to as MAEC is women organisation  which is based in Bukoba Kagera region whereby this district is historically remembered to have the first three HIV/AIDS cases and hit extremely in early 1983. In the view point, several impacts including rise of number of orphans, most vulnerable children, widows and the people living with HIV/AIDS. Since then, there has been a great demand on orphans and widow basic needs, care and support. Parents and caregivers have not been able to afford living expenses for the increased number of orphans whose parents have died of AIDS. On the other hand, ill parents and caregivers have a burden of meeting educational, healthy and shelter costs for orphans and widows. Following these OVC needs and requirements, MAEC was founded in 2001 and then legally registered by the United Republic of Tanzania in January 2007 for the purpose of providing relief to orphans, most vulnerable children, and other vulnerable groups due to HIV/AIDS including widows, youth, people living with HIV/AIDS and women.

Either MAEC was established to provide the education of human rights to women and children, through community mobilization. That is because those vulnerable groups were not regarded in the community being exposed to highly discrimination e.g. employments and forced labor to orphans children which caused hard life to them and sometimes girls were raped by their employers while boys engaging in drug abuse as they regarded it as the solution to solve their problem.Gender education to the community was not left behind since most of our community girl children discriminated and neglected their rights e.g education and sometime are forced to be married in their ages. Therefore MAEC saw the only solution is to implement the project to the community members on gender abuses.

People living with HIV/AIDS especially widows were severely segregated and stigmatized as the sub human and some times neglected to inherit the wealth of their late husbands. Following to that MAEC was first proposed and then legally officially registered by the government to carry its activities in Kagera region.
