TPIF HISTORY

Tanzania Peace Initiative Foundation (T.P.I.F) is Non-Governmental Organization legally established and registered under the section 12(2) of act No. 24 of 2002 in Tanzanian mainland as of 11/2/2013, with registration No: 6106 and act No. 6 of 1995 in Tanzania Zanzibar as of 25/10/2013, with registration No. 2206. With the objectives of advocating peace and harmonies within the society nationally and to participate in global peace initiatives as well. The foundation legally operates without prejudice as stated in its objectives, Foundation rules and regulations, and the state Laws.

Tanzania has been relatively peaceful for five decades winning names such as “an oasis of peace,” as mentioned by a German scholar, Rolf Hoefmeier, in 1997. However, political, economic and social reforms that started in the 1990s have pushed Tanzania to the brink of violent conflict though the country is still stable.

We Tanzania professional of peace and conflict studies in collaboration with other discipline by seeing the importance of maintaining peace in the development of our respective country and effect of violent conflict to our community we come up with the idea of establishing the proficient organization called TANZANIA PEACE INITIATIVE FOUNDATION Or in short (TPIF) .

TPIF is non- political, non- governmental body, non religious bases non-profit making society, no- partisan foundation, and shall carry out various activities without any discrimination, TPIF organized by educators who are ready to volunteer by using our different skill to assist our Nation in promoting peace and security.

The establishment of TPIF aimed to spread the peace education to all Tanzanian, and to restore the prevailing violent condition, TPIF as an NGOs tend to assist the government in promote and advocate the peace and show the clear picture on how it can contribute to social and economic development.

It is our hope that TPIF will we be good assistance in helping the Tanzanian community to perpetuate peace, love, security and tranquility and removal of our customary deference, which in near future   might undermine the social and economic development.

That is why the motto of TPIF is “ALL FOR ONE” by understanding that only peace can bring us together in the development of our beloved Nation.

So, our inner aim is to see the Tanzanian people live in positive peace, in other side the government and international community have the right to support our effort and idea so as to reach our objective, mission and vision, by regarding strategic plan, policy, direction and the law of our country.

 

MISSION AND VISION STATEMENT

The mission of Tanzania Peace Initiative Foundation is tocontribute in to building a peaceful society for social and economic development by promote human rights, mitigate conflict in United Republic of Tanzania and to participate in the global peace initiative. Our focal point is to live in peaceful Tanzania society that strive for social and economic development, TPIF intend to works closely with communities to build upon their awareness on human rights, sensitizes the government for positive responding towards human rights violations and organizes third-party peaceful negotiations between conflicting groups.

Specific Objectives.

  1. To educate and raise awareness to community and general public on the importance of peace and development.

  2.  To facilitate peace building process through the promotion of human right and democracy.

  3. To facilitate conflict resolution and management in the community, national and international level.

Activities and Functions.

The objective of the Tanzania Peace Initiative Foundation shall be implemented by organs of the Foundation through various activities and functions narrated here under but not limited to;-

  1. To organize and conduct seminars, workshops, and any other gathering for the purpose of giving knowledge and awareness on the importance of peace and development in deferent phenomenon within a society.

  2. To be a means of encouraging and facilitating humanitarian assistance in the circumstance of natural and man-made disaster as a means to bridge gaps between different institutions. .

  3. To alert and co-operate with the relevant government and non-government agencies, to establish and operate a conflict resolution service to assist in the resolution of disputes in the community, including, workplaces, neighborhood, interpersonal matters and intergroup disputes.

  4. Running project that shall contribute toward the improvement of economic affair and standard of living of Tanzania citizen especially who live in rural area.

  5. Manage, run and develop peace location centers, libraries, reading rooms, and internet centers, recreation centers in the, regions, cities, towns, districts and villages within and outside of   United Republic of Tanzania.

  6. To affiliate with the government, NGOs, international community, Persons, institutes and deferent companies or any other foundations in implementing a certain specific/ inclusive objectives which fall under the TPIF constitution.

  7. Formulate committee(s) or office(s) at any time for the purpose of implementing various activities.

  8. To use a media as a major methodology of giving and providing advice and opinion on conflict resolution/management and peace building to Governments, non-governmental organizations, international organizations and the community with and outside the United Republic of Tanzania in general.

  9. To foster the values and techniques of positive communication and conflict avoidance and resolution.

  10. To offer the community opportunities to learn positive communication, problem solving, assertiveness and conflict resolution skills through training programs and public education.

  11. To develop and maintain, ‘Best Practice’ in service delivery underpinned by rigorous training, registration and peer assessment.

  12. To undertake projects, consultancies and other revenue raising activities to fulfill the aims and objectives of The Tanzania Peace Initiative Foundation as determined in this constitution and from time to time by the Board.

  13. To affiliate with international and national organizations which are falling or in line with the foundational objectives.

  14. To promote and advertise the objects and activities of The Tanzania Peace Initiative Foundation Incorporated, operating as peace advocacy ogarnization.

  15. Establishing consultation offices in matter of company disputes, community disputes, family disputes, religious crisis and international disputes within and outside of the United Republic of Tanzania.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY OF DIFFERENT DEPARTMENTS

There shall be different departments that will contribute to facilitation of aims and objective, activities and function of TPIF that will be headed by direct of department assisted by vice Director,

DEPARTMENT OF FINANCIAL ADMINISTRATION

This department shall be under the chief treasure who will be the director of the department; in the absence of chief treasure deputy treasure will act as a head of department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY OF DFA

  1. To discover various source of funds of the foundation

  2. With the help of department of planning and development to prepare any project to be done by the foundation.

  3. To prepare the budget and annual work plan and coordinating the monitoring and evaluation of strategic plans as well as the activities of the directorate

  4. To take the accountability of the functions and duties of human resource management within the foundation

  5. Responsible for all financial resources, reports and assets; report the status of account; make sure all accounting records are taken care of properly; and to keep track of debtors and creditors, all required books and general ledgers must be kept in order and revenues must be banked accordingly.

  6. To make sure the institution operates within its budget

  7. To send all plan to executive committee and then to board of directors.

  8. The meeting of the committee of the department shall be sit after every three month, however, there shall be the meeting any time if the committee deemed to do so

 

 

 

 

DEPARTMENT OF PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT

This department shall be under the director of the department; in the absence of chief director deputy director will act as a head of department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY OF PPD

  1. With the help of department of financial administration to under take all project, consultancies and other revenue rising activities to fulfill the vision, mission, aim and objective of the foundation.

  2. To prepare strategic work and strategic plan of short and long term period.

  3. To find the sponsor of the developments

  4. To propose different policy of the foundation.

  5. To accumulate data that will be used in the foundation and bring them to board of executive committee for other activities

  6. To follow up the activities of other committee and write report.

  7. To advice the executive committee on the activities that the foundation should do that can fulfill the work of the association

  8. The meeting of the committee of the department shall be sit after every three month; however, there shall be the meeting any time if the committee deemed to do so.

DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION

This department shall be under the director of the department; in the absence of chief director deputy director will act as a head of department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY OF DEIC

  1. To build relationship with people, mass media and other organization

  2. To prepare TV and Radio program that will educate the people on different activities of the foundation

  3. To prepare a meeting with journalist and tell them about the activities of the foundation.

  4. To prepare and monitoring the program of seminar, workshop and colloquium for the purpose of giving knowledge and awareness on the importance of peace, human right good governance and democracy.

  5. Manage, run and develop peace location center, libraries, reading rooms and internet center, recreation centers in the regions, cities, towns, districts, and village within united republic of Tanzania

DEPARTMENT OF PEACE RESEACH EVALUATION AND COUNCELLING

This department shall be under the director of the department; in the absence of chief director deputy director will act as a head of department

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY OF PREC

  1. To conduct research/ crosscheck on the different sources of conflict and come up with suggestion to overcome the problem.

  2. To foster the value and techniques of positive communication and conflict avoidance and resolution.

  3. To offer community opportunities to learn positive communication, problem solving, assertiveness and conflict resolution skill through training programs and public education.

DEPARTMENT OF INFORMATION AND TECHNOLOGY

This department shall be under the director of the department; in the absence of chief director deputy director will act as a head of department

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY OF IT

  1. To prepare deferent advertisements and air them in and outside of United republic of Tanzania for the purpose of bring general public awareness of the activities of the foundation

  2. To promote and advertise the objectives and activities of TPIF incorporated , operating as the peace initiative center

  3. To prepare different software that can be used by the foundation for its activities

  4. To design and up-to-date information in web, blog and face book of the foundation,

  5. To take record of all activities of the foundation and publish them on the internet accordingly

CONCLUTION

Tanzania Peace Initiative Foundation intend to established close multifunctional links with public, international organization, private institution and individual to realize and advocate its aim and objectives toward serving the Tanzania society, and international community at large. The foundation attends to serve varied national and international experts, which include; professional mediators, arbitrators, educators, facilitators, conciliator, ombudsperson and others involved in the field of conflict resolution/ management and peace building capacity in collaborative decision making. The foundation intend to use several process of initiative and Alternative Dispute Resolution in managing conflict that includes;- Negotiation, Conciliation, Mediation, Settlement Conference, Arbitration, Consensus Building, and Community Conferencing. The Foundation attends to play reactive and proactive role in conflict management.
