Namanga Islamic Centre is located along the Kenya-Tanzania border in Namanga. The town is 200 kilometers away from Nairobi and 106 kilometers away from Arusha. The center is on the Tanzanian side of the boarder about 1300 mts from the customs and police stations on the main road due Right of the road as you come from Arusha and due left as you come from Nairobi. The center was established in 14/03/1998 and is on plot no 109/A in Namanga. The org is also registered with the government of Tanzania with a regestriation no SO-10837.
After my personal efforts to steer Da'wa activities. Since i am a Muslim revert as a person, the images of my community lacking modern education disturbed me. I imagined how they missed the comfort of living as educated and how they are going to embrace other means of living. I was sponsored for Hajj in the year after I reverted to Islam and it was amazing to see how Muslims from all walks of life embraced each other despite their different backgrounds and race. Since our communities (Maasai) live in under-developed error the level of illiteracy is mindboggling, poverty level are just as startling and schools and other facilities like hospitals are hardly existent. Access to basic utilities such as clean piped water is extremely limited. I took the opportunity to organize sponsorship for the maasais who finished high schools.
After seeing that the opportunity of the people only lies on educating its youth who can dutifully take the responsibility of spearheading the destiny of the people to the modern world. Since formal education washes away prejudices and contributes to good upbringing Namanga Muslim educational center took this opportunity to enhance of the importance of formal education in the interior maasai villages. We have many orphaned children and very poor nomadic people who cannot afford to educate their children so we are requesting for anybody who can help us educate the nomadic maa community. We also have very harsh climatic environments often leading to long droughts henceforth leading us to consider digging boreholes and helping the community get access to clean water for their cattle and goats which they often have to travel long distances to get. We also have HIV affected people in the community now that the disease is wide spread the community needs help in medical and awareness education to remove the community from ignorance of such deadly catastrophic dangers.
The major challenge the center is facing as at now is lack of funds to start the first phase of our plan which is to build 3 permanent structure to serve as classes and also lack of funds to meet bills and other petty expenses. We hereby appeal to anyone to kindly contribute to this worthy course.
