Imani Vocational Training Centre is the Centre initiated by SISTER’S OUR LADY OF KILIMANJARO in 2001.The centre registered in 2004 under Vocational Education Training Authority (VETA) with registration VTC/2004/377 NO.0000323 providing only two training courses of tailoring and welding & fabrication. The main goal of the centre is to “empower children’s who fail to join with secondary education, children with disabilities and non-disabilities for provision of vocational training for gaining skills for employment or self-employment and stop being dependency for their families. Currently, the centre has tailored its courses of carpentry & joinery, masonry & bricklaying, electrical installation, tailoring, food production, welding & metal fabrication and knitting to meet the community demand. To complement its courses, the centre teaches related subjects such as Mathematics, English, Engineering Science and technical drawing. However, the centre teaches also cross-cutting skills such as computer and entrepreneurship to prepare the youth in vocational training entering into productive self-employment and transforming the attitudes of youth towards vocational trainings for entrepreneurship. |
