1.1 SECCA is an acronym a Sustainable for Environmental & Climate Change Association, in March 2012 was officially registered as a Non Governmental Organization in Tanzania . It was initiated by the people at local level through people’s participation in Arusha City;
SECCA operates Arusha as its HQ and branches in Mbeya and Mwanza, Aim to mitigate the effects caused by climate change in Tanzania, and other areas such areas that are arid and semi-arid includes the arid Masai steppe the Serengeti and Ngorongoro in the north Mkomazi and Pangani in the north east spreading to Dodoma in the country’s mid section.
It also covers the semi arid ecosystems consisting Miombo and bush land areas stretching from south west mtwara, western Lindi, covering most of Morogoro woodlands, northern plateau in Rukwa, Mbeya, Tabora, Arusha, kigoma and Mara.
This cluster is dominated by poor unimodal rainfall areas (400-800mm per year), with the more arid areas receiving one short rain between March and May. The plateau has higher uni-modal rainfall from 800-1600mm per year coming between November and April. It is highly vulnerable to reduce precipitation from climate change and amendable to sustainable natural recourse management interventions since it is also the soured of the bulk of wood fuel used in the country. SECCA also work around areas of Lake Victoria basin.
