Furaha Development Foundation (FDF) is a small volunteer organization and it is non-profit and non- government organizationcreated since 2011  by the shared ambition of local people to provide technical, educational, and hands-on volunteer support to grassroots community projects on the island of Zanzibar, Tanzania, to improve living conditions of its inhabitants and registed 10th May 2016 in Zanzibar.

Its goal is to promote the culture and heritage of this beautiful country and to help the poorest residents in developing the skills and resources they need to achieve like a healthy lifestyle and sustainable livelihood. Services are provided to all people regardless of gender, age, tribe, ethnicity, disability or religion.

FDF is non-profit development organization based in Zanzibar that facilitates the implementation of village-based sustainable development projects in the urban and rural areas.The organization is working to provide and increases education,economic opportunity,sustaina natural resources and protect the environment.

FDF hope to operate through the following pathways urban and rural development on;conservation of natural resources,promotion of sustainable livehold,gender equity and voicing the voiceless as well as information and skill empowerment.

FDF Vision;

  • To promote co-operation betweenFuraha Development Foundation (FDF) and other associations engaged in similar objectives with a view to enhance mutual benefit and help.
  • Sustainable local natural resource management
  • To provide technical assistance, training, and consultative support to community-based organizations including schools, orphanages, NGOs and grassroots self-helping groups in the areas of website design, fundraising and organization development.
  • Improving community members’ access to justice
  • Strengthening thematic coalitions and networks for more effective collective action
  • To promote ecologically sound alternative technology, arts and craft and other livelihood projects in order to help most vulnerable residents to develop their skills and resources to achieve a better life.
  • To provide civic education to encourage active citizenship

Our mission

To build capacity among Zanzibar's poorest residents,good governance for local community as well as to protect the beautiful natural resources of the island in a sustainable way. The goal is to improve the life conditions of the most vulnerable inhabitants by conducting different programs through the placement of skilled foreign volunteers and the provision of technical support and assistance to other NGOs, Community Organizations and grassroots groups pursuing compatible goals.
