6.0. Historical Background
EWACO is a technical and capacity building non- governmental organization which is dealing with water supply, environmental conservation, sanitation, hygiene education, Human rights violence and HIV/AIDS prevention and control strategies in both Urban and Rural areas in Tanzania. These activities include the initiative of community based water and sanitation projects, to support communities to plan and implement, manage, operate, and maintain as well as monitor and evaluate their projects in the areas of water, hygiene, sanitation, human rights, HIV/AIDS, lobbying and Advocacy and other development projects.

“Better living standard life is the right of every community regardless of their sex, gender and level of education”.

“To reduce poverty among poor communities by enhancing them to have better access of safe and clean water, maintain environmental conservation, health protection, (HIV/AIDS) and protecting women’s and children’s human rights.
The major achievements of the organization is to enable the school children and teachers from different areas to have access of water and better sanitation facilities as well as hygiene education while there are some challenges faced during implementation of projects such as political interference within the implementation areas, unavailability of funds from donors, poor participation among the community during project implementation and funds delay from donors.
