OUR PLANS FOR 2016-2020

A. Developing the Projects in Progress: Where we are

1.  Micro credit scheme.

We plan to extend our women micro credit scheme to more villages and wards of the Karagwe district. We are now running this project in Kayanga and Bugene wards. We plan to add more five more wards in the next five years. The project is funded by Wabia Network, a UK-based organization.

2. Community   Based Rehabilitation (CBR)

We are currently running a CBR project in partnership with KCBRP and KESUDE. The project is funded by Liliane Foundation, an organization based in the Netherlands.

3. Club foot clinic Project.

In partnership with KADEF, KESUDE, KCBRP and NYAKAHANGA DDH, KARUDECA is running club feet clinic at Nyakahanga DDH. We rehabilitate children with club foot by using the Posent method, which requires rehabilitation without any surgery intervention. The project is funded by Miracle Feet, a US-based organization.

4. Microfinance Project/Hisa Project

KARUDECA is running a group of women and men who have decided to join together to boost themselves economically. They assist each other economically using the little resources that they have.

We would be grateful for anyone who willing to support these efforts.

Proposed project: Where we want to go 2016-2020

1. Environmental Conservation

We intend to launch a bee keeping project with our members as a means of environmental conservation and economic empowerment, as well as employment creation.

2. Health

We plan to provide capacity building to medical officers in public and private health centers to improve their working skills.

We also plan to run a cost-sharing rain water harvesting tank construction project for the needy families in Karagwe.

3. Education

We plan to build ten girls dormitories in ten government ward secondary schools to rescue young girls from early pregnancy and early marriage.

We want to begin computer classes to teach ICT to the youths in Karagwe as a means of professional development.

We intend to provide capacity building to our staff in order to increase the efficiency of our actions. We want to do so in partnership with MS-TSDC because of their long-time experience in providing capacity building support.

We plan to provide education support to the needy children in Karagwe.

We plan to construct an awareness creation hall for meeting and capacity building for our beneficiaries.

We intend to launch a KARUDECA Community Radio Project. This radio will help in information and knowledge transfer to the rural parts of the Kagera region, Karagwe district in particular. As we all know that information is power, the radio station will transform lives of the residents of Karagwe.

4. Agriculture

We will run an agribusiness project to enable farmers in Karagwe to practice commercial agriculture. We want to encourage Karagwe farmers to have a commercial agriculture and  sell their products on the market, rather then using agriculture for consumption only as they do today.

We plan to launch cattle revolving project and training to the beneficiaries on environmentally friendly animal husbandry.

We also plan to expand an agricultural lending system in Karagwe district.

5. Women empowerment

We want to launch a women legal aid center to help marginalized women out of intimidation, oppression and humiliation.

We plan to launch reproductive health campaigns targeting female students in secondary schools in Karagwe  in order to empower women by fighting early pregnancy and truancy.

C. PARTNERSHIPS

We will work hard to strengthen the existing partnerships while building new ones. As at KARUDECA we believe development is a collective endeavor, we encourage our fellow local NGOs to join forces through networks and consortia in order to learn from each other and increase the efficiency of our actions.
