African Partnership on Climate Change Coalition(APCCC) is a trans-boundary Non-governmental Organization registered in Uganda under the Non Governmental Statute of 1989 Reg. No.S.5914/8945, incorporated in Malawi as a Non-profit Making Company Limited by Guarantee, Reg. No. 9268, and registered in Tanzania under the Non Governmental Act (2002) of the United Republic of Tanzania with Reg. No 00NGO/00003391. APCCC was founded by 23 African participants of the International Advanced Training Course on Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation at the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute, Norrkoping in Sweden in 2007. APCCC was established to address the inadequate preparedness of households, communities, and governments in Africa to cope with current and projected climate change. Awareness on Climate Change was poor, scientific and technical capacities were low, institutional capacity to effectively respond to climate change impacts was inadequate, natural resource management was poor and there were discriminative socio-cultural systems which excluded some groups of society from controlling resources and accessing basic services which led to massive vulnerability.
APCCC was therefore established to create awareness and build capacity to enhance resilience and mitigation of climate change in Africa.
APCCC is a member of the Uganda Coalition for Sustainable Development, the African Adaptation Knowledge Network (AAKNet - UNEP), FORUM-CC Tanzania, the Sub Sahara Adaptation Working Group (SSAWG), the GEF - NGO Network and, Buikwe NGOs Network in Uganda.
APCCC has five programme areas including; climate change awareness and education, sustainable livelihoods, natural resource conservation and climate change policy development and advocacy.
The organization is currently operational in Tanzania (in Kagera Region) with a country office in Kemondo Port Bay, Bukoba Rural District; and in Uganda (Eastern and Central Regions) with country offices in Najjembe, Mabira Tropical Forest (Along Kampala –Jinja highway)
