Community-led Tree Planting    Community Forests Pemba's primary activities center around a grassroots tree planting initiative. The organization has helped 14 communities plant over 300,000 trees for fruit and timber. Since the project began, many communities have seen the immense environmental benefits tree planting has provided within their villages, and they continue to plant trees for the ecosystem services they provide.

Environmental Education Awareness to Schools and Communities on Climate Change Three years ago CFP developed a climate change curriculum in both English and Swahili, with a focus on its effects in Pemba.  Since its development, CFP has presented the curriculum, which includes handouts, a PowerPoint presentation, computer simulations, a solar cooking demonstration, and interactive activities, to a variety of schools and communities on Pemba. Our aim is to educate mobilise students and communities to take and active role in tackling Climate Change adaptation.

Resilient Landscapes for Resilient Communities   This EU-funded project is a unique opportunity for CFP to implent climate change adaptation strategies within five pilot communities.  These strategies include afforestation, agroforestry, beekeeping, alternative energy and rainwater harvesting systems and kitchen gardening.  Follow the link above to read more about the project.

World Wildlife Fund - Russel E. Train Education for Nature Grant
This project enabled CFP to continue supporting our communities with restoring their natural environment with community reforestation workshops.  The workshops were split between Tree Plantation Management and Nursery Management.  Through these workshops our communities were able to reforest 13 Hectares of land with more than 160,000 trees in 2014!
