LUANA WARD ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION AND TREE PLANTING PROGRAM:
Completed Phase 1,
Waiting for Phase 2 in the last quarter of 2014..
The project involves protecting and conserving water catchments and planting trees in bare up-lands.. Most plots belong to village schools, both primary and secondary schools as well as village owned plots..
The program is progressively donated by Tanzania Forest Fund under the Ministry of Natural resources and Tourism (Tanzania).
Results:
1. About 3 water catchments were planted water conserving trees, 1 in each village; Luana, Mholo and Mbwila.
2. Each village, schools and organization's plots of land were planted pine and eucaryptus trees in the ward.
3. Awareness building in the community on importance of environmental conservation.
